The first time I set foot on Monhegan Island, about 16 years ago, I knew I had landed somewhere very special and I immediately felt the healing benefits. I had been living in big cities including Los Angeles and New York, the peaceful remoteness of Monhegan was exactly what I needed after the hectic, high energy pace of those other places. Now I have been living here for over 12 years and I am still amazed on a daily basis by the beauty of Monhegan and the healing energy that is embedded in the rocks and sea.
I started Monhegan Wellness with the mission of sharing my home, it’s beauty and the healing energy with as many people as possible.
I practice Yoga year-round outside on the highest cliffs on the East Coast overlooking amazing vistas. My practice is elevated because of my surroundings and I want you to get to have a similar experience.
Monhegan Wellness offers many opportunities for men and women to leave the busy world behind and participate in your personal journey to health and wellness.
Located 12 miles off the coast of Maine, Monhegan Island is a beautiful, relaxing destination where people come to escape the stresses of daily life, unwind, heal and nourish themselves. The peaceful remoteness of Monhegan has a natural ability to soothe the body and the soul.
We at Monhegan Wellness build on this experience by giving retreat participants the space and knowledge to take full advantage of the Island’s healing energy.

Thai Yoga: Nuad Bo-Rarn, or Thai Yoga Bodywork is an ancient form of hands-on healing drawing its roots from the Buddhist temples of Thailand, Ayurveda and Yoga from India, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. This therapeutic modality consists of a series of yoga-like stretches, which the therapist performs on the clothed client on a mat on the floor. The Thai Yoga that Tara practices comes from northern style Thai massage from the lineage of ITM, International Thai Massage School. The manual therapy ofasana chikitsa, or the use of assisted yoga postures, promotes the restoration of an even flow of life force through the mind and body. It employs the usage of acupressure points that are found along energy lines, to increase the vital flow of prana/chi, or life force. $75/75 minutes
Personal Yoga sessions: Whether you are a beginner or experienced yogi, Tara will meet you at your abilities. Tara offers restorative, Vinyasa flow, gentle, moderate and vigorous yoga for all levels. $60/hour

As a Health Coach, Tara creates a supportive environment that will enable you to achieve all of your health objectives. She has studied over 100 dietary theories and uses practical lifestyle coaching methods to guide you in discovering which approach works best for you.
Most approaches to nutrition dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and free of denial and discipline.
