Located 12 miles off the coast of Maine, the remoteness of Monhegan paints a breathtaking backdrop for your relaxing getaway. You will leave the noise and chaos of life on the mainland and be greeted by a quiet serenity that will immediately begin healing your body and soul. I have lived on Monhegan for 17 years and know all of the best places to hike, practice yoga and meditate. I approach both my yoga and nutrition practice with a sense of joy, flexibility and fun. Monhegan Wellness offers a variety of retreats:

Individual and Group Yoga Sessions

Personal yoga sessions $60/hour up to 6 people, $10 per additional

Thai Yoga bodywork sessions $75/75 minute session

 

Thai YogaNuad Bo-Rarn, or Thai Yoga Bodywork is an ancient form of hands-on healing drawing its roots from the Buddhist temples of Thailand, Ayurveda and Yoga from India, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.  This therapeutic modality consists of a series of yoga-like stretches, which the therapist performs on the clothed client on a mat on the floor.   The Thai Yoga that Tara practices comes from northern style Thai massage from the lineage of ITM, International Thai Massage School.  The manual therapy ofasana chikitsa, or the use of assisted yoga postures, promotes the restoration of an even flow of life force through the mind and body. It employs the usage of acupressure points that are found along energy lines, to increase the vital flow of prana/chi, or life force. $75/75 minutes

Personal Yoga sessions: Whether you are a beginner or experienced yogi, Tara will meet you at your abilities. Tara offers restorative, Vinyasa flow, gentle, moderate and vigorous yoga for all levels. $60/hour

Rejuvenating Foot Soaks

Rejuvenating foot soaks are relaxing and invigorating.

Lasting approximately one hour, the basic soak includes relaxing hops, and a wonderful view overlooking the meadow.

Rejuvenating foot soak

Foot soaks are approximately 1 hour, starting with a relaxing warm, bath infused with hops, then receiving a sea salt scrub to invigorate the foot.

 

The retreat lasts approximately 3 hours; $200 for the first person, $50 per additional person up to 6 people

(Thai Yoga is not available for multiple people)

There will be art demonstrations and presentations, yoga, critiques, amazing nutritious food, walks/hikes, and more!! Offered by Tara Hire, a certified Yoga instructor and nutrition counselor.

This retreat is for artists of all mediums.

This all-inclusive art and yoga retreat is set on beautiful Monhegan Island. There are endless opportunities to create your art and beautiful compositions wherever you look.

Artists will be inspired not only by the land- and sea-scapes but also by the artists who live and work on Monhegan Island. The island is home to several year-round and seasonal artists whom work in a variety of mediums, including oil painting, poetry, photography, woodwork, and rope work.

  • Each morning the group will visit a different artist, see their work, and hear about how Monhegan inspires them; hands-on demonstrations with some of the artists.
  • Personal Tour of Monhegan art and history museum by Tara Hire
  • Mornings include yoga and inspiration.
  • Artists have all afternoon to explore and create art at their own pace.
  • Aid will be provided in choosing the perfect spot to paint and in getting materials to hard to reach areas.

Your hosts: Tara Hire, a certified Yoga instructor and nutrition counselor and KiKA Nigals Artist an Art Educator.

This all-inclusive art and yoga retreat is set on beautiful Monhegan Island. The month of May is quiet, only the birds are migrating through. Winter residents are waking from their long winter hibernation and the light and color of the island is magical. There are endless opportunities to paint plein-aire and beautiful compositions wherever you look.

Artists of all mediums are welcome

poets, musicians, painters, writers, photographers, crafters

all creative people will enjoy this retreat
