Green Goddess Cheese Spread

A few weeks ago I posted Better than Wheat Thins Cracker with the promise of posting this cheese spread recipe to go with it. I was remiss in keeping that promise but luckily for you, I have wonderful followers that are kind enough to remind me.

For your next social gathering or for a healthy afternoon snack, Better than Wheat Thins Cracker with Green Goddess Spread will fill your tummy and your nutrition needs.

Green Goddess Spread from Monhegan Island Cooks the Monhegan Memorial Library award winning cookbook, recipe contributed by Kathie Iannicelli

¼ cup Chablis

Juice of 1 lemon

5 cloves garlic, crushed

½ cup mixed chopped fresh herbs (parsley, chives, thyme, rosemary, sage, basil)

Fresh ground black pepper to taste

2 (8 oz.) packages cream cheese, softened

Mix together wine, lemon juice, and garlic in saucepan. Simmer 5 minutes. Add half of fresh herbs, continue to simmer 1 minute. In a bowl, beat cream cheese; blend in remaining herbs, pepper and wine mixture. Spoon into a serving bowl. Refrigerate overnight. Spread on homemade toast or crackers or vegetables for dipping.
