Tara Hire received her bachelors’ degree from University of Maine Orono in Food Science and Human Nutrition in 2004. In 2008, she finished her Masters degree in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health. In 2009, she became a Certified Metabolic Typing™ Advisor. She received her training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s Program in 2013. In 2014, she completed her 200 hour yoga teacher certificate from Nosara Yoga Institute. Her education, combined with her extensive experience in health and nutrition has given her the ability to help people in achieving their personal health goals.

Nutrition:

Through several years of self-analysis, education, reading and talking to other professionals in the health industry, she finally came to the conclusion, that there is not one diet that fits all people and it is well worth the time and effort to figure out the best diet for YOU. Tara’s experience makes her uniquely compassionate and understanding to those who have tried everything to improve their health. She will help you to attain health and wellness by taking a thorough look at lifestyle, work, daily habits, food choices and the overall person. Tara will help guide you to create the life you desire.

Health and wellness are not just about diet and exercise, but also your outlook on life, your social interactions, and your interaction with yourself while finding balance in your life. Tara will help you identify your challenges and give you the tools to overcome them.

During Tara’s training, she studied dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts, including: Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

Yoga:

Tara received her 200YTT certification from Nosara Yoga Institute (NYI). NYI’s curriculum is inter-disciplinary giving Tara a well rounded education in all of the yoga styles. Her teaching styles include Restorative Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. She prefers these two styles because of the ability of the participants to meditate during the practice. Both styles increase, flexibility and strength while also cultivating gratitude, compassion and love for one-self and those around us.

Tara offers Thai Yoga to her clients. She received her Thai Yoga certification from ShivaShakti Yoga School in Mid-coast, Maine.

Thai YogaNuad Bo-Rarn, or Thai Yoga Bodywork consists of a series of yoga-like stretches, which the therapist performs on the clothed client on a mat on the floor.   The manual therapy ofasana chikitsa, or the use of assisted yoga postures, promotes the restoration of an even flow of life force through the mind and body. It employs the usage of acupressure points that are found along energy lines, to increase the vital flow of prana/chi, or life force.

Tara’s education has equipped her with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, the mechanics of the human body, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and her knowledge of different dietary theories, she work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
