My experiment in fasting reminded me of when I had been on very low calorie diets. Often after being on this type of diet for an extended time, I would binge on high calorie foods.

Will power can become exhausted. Current research in will power finds that individuals need to practice will power. It is like a muscle that needs to be flexed and toned.

If you want to go on a very low calorie diet, it is important to fill those calories with as much food as possible. You can eat a higher volume of vegetables and lean proteins than fruits, starchy vegetables, grains and fatty foods. To keep yourself feeling full longer eat an abundance of vegetables and lean proteins.

To practice toning your will power, take it slow and build up to it. And don’t beat yourself up when you slip up. Remember you are building up your will power and be forgiving of yourself.
